Carmilla Release

Hi everyone,

It’s time to fully reveal our latest title!

All of the information for our forthcoming edition of Carmilla is now live on the website, on the Publishing page as well as the shop pages.

Below you’ll find a brief overview of what you can expect from this edition, along with some key details on the release and how the sale will work.

Lyra's Classics

   Carmilla

                       by

   J. Sheridan Le Fanu

We are incredibly excited to finally share this edition with you. Carmilla is one of the foundational works of Gothic fiction and vampire literature, and it has been a real pleasure to bring this project together along with Abigail and Roger.

Our edition will feature:

  • 14 colour plates by Hugo Award-winning illustrator Abigail Larson
  • A newly commissioned afterword by Professor Roger Luckhurst
  • Signatures from both Abigail and Roger on all copies
  • A Numbered edition of 275 copies and a Lettered edition of 26 copies

This has been a project we’ve been working on for quite some time and we’re very pleased with how it has come together, from the illustrations through to the materials and overall design.

You can now view the full details, including edition specifications, pricing, and sale information, below. Just click on the individual edition links on the shop page:

SALE INFORMATION

Please read the following carefully if you are hoping to secure a copy.

Rights Holder Sale

As usual, emails will be sent to current Lyra’s Classics rights holders and they will be able to purchase their copies during this window of time, ahead of the public sale:

Monday 12th October 2026 until Wednesday 14th October 2026.

Rights holders are those customers who purchased either a Lettered edition or Numbered edition (#1-150) of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Purchase Registration

(previously known as the Lottery)

Registration forms will be available in the Shop on each Product page, on the below dates and times.

Lettered Edition Purchase Registration (if applicable)
:

12pm BST (UK time) Friday 16th October 2026 until 12pm BST (UK time) Sunday 18th October 2026.

Numbered Edition Purchase Registration
:

12pm BST (UK time) Friday 16th October 2026 until 12pm BST (UK time) Sunday 18th October 2026.

If there are more registrations than copies available, registrants will be selected at random. The distribution of available rights copies will also be decided at random.

Those selected will be notified:

Monday 19th October 2026 by email

Selected registrants will then have 48 hours to confirm that they would like to proceed with their purchase. If we do not hear from you within 48 hours, your copy will be offered to another customer. This means that there could potentially be a second wave of emails sent out on Wednesday 21st October.

See our FAQ page and new How To Purchase page to understand our rules around Purchase Registration.

We expect to deliver the finished books mid 2027.

As always, please make sure you read the sale information carefully on the relevant web pages, particularly if you already hold rights.

If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch.

Remember that we are adding an additional 50 Lyra’s Classics rights copies (Numbered edition) with the sale of this title, taking us from 150 to 200. This means that all future Lyra’s Classics titles will have a minimum of 200 Numbered copies. The Lettered edition remains at 26 copies.

Thank you all, as ever, for your continued support and interest in the press. We hope you love this edition as much as we do, and we look forward to seeing it out in the world soon!

With love,

Rich
